Friends and modeling? Building models and hanging out with your budds? Add to the mix viewing other's built-up models, buying models and modeling supplies from specialized vendors, and attending modeling How-To seminars and programs by peers and professionals in the industry. What a perfect mix?

When combined together, under one roof, these activities create a "W-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l" experience!

For years now (going back to 2001 for me) the Wonderfest Shows have consistently been a great, fine source of both modeling fun, along with a chance to meet up with some old modeling friends, (and make new ones along the way), all taking place in a festive, enjoyable, partying atmosphere.

(Background)
Wonderfest 2017 is now a warm, fond, fuzzy (recently) distant memory. It took place on the weekend of Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 4, and was held at its usual location, the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport Hotel. Once again I made the just over 700 mile trek, by car to the show.

I took my "p-r-e-c-i-o-u-s", three personal days off from school (work) for the Thursday and Friday prior to the show, along with the Monday after the show. (I tell ya, those days were "golden": I had saved them - (grasping TIGHTLY, like some long-lost, recently rediscovered treasure - get the analogy?)- from the middle of August of last year).

My trip to Louisville has become a "W-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l" mini-vacation for me, a psychologically cleansing, soul refreshing, mental recharging, super-getaway!

The (relatively) long trip by car through eastern, middle and western PA, northern West Virginia, the entire length of Ohio and much of Kentucky gives me a chance to unwind and wind down, relaxing and getting myself back into a calm, tranquil, modeling state-of-mind. This year's trip was right on-time in accomplishing this for me.

(OK, with all that said and done, on to my report).

Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans?

(As previously mentioned), I took today, tomorrow, and Monday off from work to attend this year's Wonderfest Show. Sooooo, itís now 8:15 in the evening, and I'm stuck at the very beginning of my trip, at a bridge opening.

Despite my intentions to leave at a half-way decent time, which would allow me to make the 10 - 12 hour trip during sunlight, the fates conspired against me.

Initially, upon waking up earlier today I decided to get some of my household tasks and chores (which had been piling up) done. (I preferred not to return to a bunch of stuff which still needed to be done).

Soooo, the lawn was cut. Then, I decided to clean out some dirty dishes, along with finishing laundry (which I needed for the trip anyway).

Then, there was the task of completing the gravel-vacing and filter-cleaning of my aquarium tanks. (In addition to modeling, I also have a passion for raising aquarium fish). This task alone chewed up 4 hours of the day for me.

Once packed I was ready to jump on the road. It was mid-afternoon. However, around that time my good ole' friend Mr. "F. F". (Fatigue Factor) reared his ugly head. (No point in getting on the road for a very long road trip when you're tired, right)? I decided to get a good power-nap in before leaving.

After tossing and turning for a couple of hours - (I had visions of Wonderfest bouncing in my head) - I finally decided to give up on that idea. (I was just too psyched and pumped up)!

I packed up my remaining items and jumped on the road.

Sooo here I am, stopped in traffic (for around 35 minutes now) for a Burlington Bristol Bridge opening!

...Ok, the ship has FINALLY "sailed", (making its way under the bridge).

I'm on my way.
